Educational policy documents presented, will help modernize education in Ukraine

Presentation of education policy papers was held in the Ministry of education and sciences of Ukraine several days ago.

New studies, - “Education Modernization in Ukraine. Results of a national survey”, “Competency–Based Approach in Modern Education. World Experience and Ukrainian Prospects”, “Education Quality Monitoring. Development in Ukraine”, “Education Quality Monitoring.

World Experience and Ukrainian Prospects”,  “Reform strategy for education in Ukraine. Education policy recommendations”-  include the analysis as well as practical recommendations regarding the content of modern education in Ukraine, establishment of the system of education quality monitoring as well as development of the system of education governance. This is intended to foster realization of the National doctrine of education development in Ukraine.

 

Mr.Pavlo Polyanskyy, Director of Secondary and Primary Education Department of the Ministry of Education and science of Ukraine noted that the researches by UNDP experts on such issues as modernization of the content of education and establishment of the system of education quality monitoring were very timely and demand-driven. Now the government of Ukraine is determined to set up several events to master the quality of education in Ukraine and introduce the practice of external testing as well as establish national system of education quality monitoring on the basis of the criteria and approaches applied by European community to ensure the participation of Ukraine in the international comparative studies”.

According to Ms. Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecka, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative to Ukraine, Country Programme Director, the innovative studies will have practical use for scholars; the competency-based approach and education quality monitoring implementation have the future in Ukraine. In addition she emphasized that education was an important sphere for human development.

According to Alexander Liashenko, Chief Scientific Secretary of the Academy of pedagogical sciences of Ukraine congratulated all governmental and non-governmental organizations especially international programs and projects which participated inthe studies. He also said that the studies had become the best practices of implementation of education quality monitoring by the regions and admitted its high value. Mr.Liashenko noted that presented policy papers had become “bestseller” for education practitioners, scientists, parents as well as education in-extension community in  Ukraine.

Ukrainian pedagogical science and work of the scholars and experts in developing papers in policy analysis had greatly contributed to establishment of education quality monitoring in Ukraine.

 

Conference on Development of HR Education in Ukraine

On 29 and 30 October 2009 in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv took place a Conference on the Development of Human Rights Education initiated by the Norwegian Helsinki Committee and the Understanding Human Rights Ukrainian Educational Program. During two days 148 participants from different countries shared their expertise and information concerning the existent examples of initiatives, projects and programs for human rights education in Ukraine and abroad.
